Doves/Bombs, curated by Chad Abbley, Matt Gonzalez, and Shrey Purohit at Pelota Gallery on Treasure Island, brings together nine artists reflecting on war and peace.

Built originally for the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition as a space symbolizing unity and progress, Treasure Island was soon transformed into a military outpost during World War II, embodying the global tensions of the time.

Now, as it undergoes a new phase of repurposing, the island invites a more ambiguous interpretation—one that straddles the line between its past as a place of both conflict and community. This exhibition considers what it means to continually reimagine a landscape shaped by such opposing forces.
